Frida Kahlo is best known for her deeply personal and powerful self-portraits. After a severe bus accident in her youth, she began painting during long periods of pain and isolation. Her work moves between the documentary and the dreamlike—where the body, identity, and suffering become figurative symbols. The result is both personal and universal, charged with an intense presence.
